Papers consist of correspondence, manuscripts by Dr. Hawkins and others; photographs; and miscellaneous personal documents including curriculum vitae, school transcripts, and license applications and conference programs, reprints, reports, notes, clippings, and minutes. These document Dr. Hawkins' career at the New York Psychoanalytic Institute, 1944-1963; her affiliations with the Eastern Subcommittee on the Psychoanalysis of Children and Adolescents, Hunter College Educational Clinic, and the Foundation for Research in Preventive Psychiatry, 1952-1967; her research with Hans Kraus on muscular syndromes, particularly lower back pain, that affect psychoanalysts (including questionnaires sent to members of the American Psychoanalytic Association), 1955-1962; her research into adolescents, ca. 1951-1958; and her training at the Psychoanalytic Institute of Vienna; and her personal life.
